But here we see the Holy Spirit's own thoughts, as a separate and distinct person within the trinity.
We can see that the Psalm is about the Son the King, and He is referred to as God.
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. (v.6)
So we might be tempted to think the Spirit is communicating the Father's perspective.
But we see the Father being referred to in third person
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you (v.7)
Therefore, if the scripture is inspired by God and this verse speaks to the Son in the second person, and of the Father in the third person, then the first person perspective must be that of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit is looking at the glorified Messiah, the coronated King of Kings along with His bride and is absolutely overcome with joy and praise.
My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.
You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever. (vs.1-2)
Then we are reminded that it is the role of the Spirit to magnify and exalt Christ as we read the last verse
I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever. (v.17)
This entire Psalm is a glimpse into the first person perspective of the Holy Spirit, and the joy and excitement He experiences over Christ and the church.
It is truly incredible. I rarely think of the Holy Spirit as an emotional being. I don't think of Him as an impersonal force, but I picture Him going about the business of the Kingdom almost stoically. This is mind boggling to me the more I think about it.
The Holy Spirit is STOKED!!! And He can't hold it in.
My heart overflows (v.1)
